Environmental Specialist – CF Industries, Woodward, OK

Job Summary

This position reports to the EHS Manager and provides technical environmental support on air, water and waste issues as requested. It serves as a subject matter expert in at least one media (air, water, waste) and is responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal/state/local environmental regulations and company best practices, permits, procedures, and policies. The role works with affected departments to improve programs and processes and validate effectiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor all environmental aspects of the plant to maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Manage, review, and understand the site's key environmental data.
  • Serve as a key resource to the site to address daily environmental concerns and work closely with affected departments in monitoring daily parameters to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications (air, water, etc.) and environmental reports (Air Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II Chemical Inventories, Title V Compliance, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance of the site's Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC Plan), NPDES Permit, and the Title V Air Permit as required.
  • Develop, update, and implement environmental compliance programs/procedures and regularly review existing programs for effectiveness.
  • Represent environmental aspects in cross‑functional efforts such as PSM, audits, incident investigations, and engineering projects.
  • Participate in training, stack testing and work with outside services as necessary to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Management, or a similar science/engineering degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of environmental compliance experience in industry, consulting, or in a regulatory role.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and application of pollutant abatement processes, equipment, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of general occupational safety, process safety, and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to make independent decisions requiring specialized environmental technical knowledge within established boundaries.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with peers, leadership, and external regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize workload and responsibilities.
  • Capability to influence peers and cross‑functional teams to effectively implement policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Experience with electronic tools/systems, including continuous emissions monitoring systems and environmental reporting systems.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft business products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).
