Supervisory Organization: Ponca City Center - OESC

Location: Woodward, OK

Responsibilities
  • Manage and promote career assessment and vocational counseling via applicant interview and qualification evaluation to determine needs for employment, job skills, placement, training, referral, etc., under a case management system ensuring the optimal delivery of multiple employment services provided at the center within business hours of operation. Focus on priority services to special-needs clients and ensure required information is obtained and recorded into Employ Oklahoma.
  • Utilize Employ Oklahoma for registering customers for employment, unemployment services, and additional education and training services.
  • Establish unemployment insurance benefit claims, interpreting and conforming to benefit provisions of multi-state unemployment laws, analyzing claims for accurate and complete information, fact-finding, and maintaining UI files, with a focus on priority service to all categories of special-needs clients.
  • Communicate with management, employers, applicants, claimants, and coworkers concerning job orders, referrals, job developments, and unemployment insurance benefits in a timely fashion; prepare clear, concise oral or written reports as needed.
  • Professionally manage career assessment, vocational counseling, job placement, employment services, and other social services offered at the local American Job Center in conformity with applicable laws and regulations, with priority service to veterans and other special-needs applicants.
  • Use excellent customer-service skills to ensure optimal results for activities of the workforce center staff; maintain an office environment conducive to friendly customer service.
  • Provide resource room assistance with unemployment insurance eligibility, filing UI claims, training on UI functions, and UI compensation services in a professional and friendly manner under a case management system.
  • Assist with workforce center receptionist duties as assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings and staff-required training and cross-training to provide professional and timely assistance with workforce center duties.
  • Utilize office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
  • On-site attendance is an essential function of the position due to direct interaction with staff, clients, and office resources.
