• Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and similar activities to communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of the students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents regarding the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

• RIDE Business Education 6-12 Secondary Certification
• MLL Endorsement Preferred
• Right to Read Awareness Certification Required
• Strong experience working with students with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
