This employee is responsible for carrying out the directions from the classroom teacher as appropriate as the paraprofessional for whom he/she is substituting. Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Follows established Individual Educational Plans to improve socially significant behaviors under the supervision of the Teacher and Building Principal/Director of Grants
• Incorporates specific educational objectives into the context of on-going activities, as appropriate
• Facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills
• Communicates with students' parents via communication log
• Schedules activities as directed
• Presents subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role playing or as otherwise directed by the Teacher
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
• May need assistance with toileting and lifting
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
• Must hold a high school diploma or GED. Teacher Assistant Certification preferred. For long-term substitute positions, applicant must hold an Associate's Degree or TA cert & passing Parapro Test Score Experience working with school age children in an urban setting preferred. Friendly, responsible, reliable, and enjoy teaching and working with school aged children. Clear BCI through National Fingerprinting required by Law, at personal cost of $45 This is a day-to-day, on call position.
  
  Pay rate begins at $16/hr for the first 30 working days and increases to $22.75/hr beginning on the 31st working day.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
