Assistant Finance Director

Schedule: Approximately 16–24 hours per week

Reports To: Finance Director / Principal

Traverse Landscape Architects is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Assistant Finance Director to support the firm’s financial operations and accounting systems. This part‑time role will assist with financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, project accounting, and day‑to‑day accounting operations while helping maintain the overall financial health and efficiency of the practice. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small professional design firm environment.

• Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
• Assist with preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and organized financial records
• Coordinate with outside accountants, consultants, and tax professionals
• Review consultant invoices, project accounting, and expense reporting
• Assist leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and operational planning
• Support year‑end tax preparation
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company procedures

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel required
• Experience in professional services, design, or small business environments preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
