Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team for the upcoming school year in Narragansett, RI. As a vital member of our special education department, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in students. Your expertise and commitment will contribute to creating a supportive learning environment where all students can effectively communicate and achieve academic and social success.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, collaborating with educators, parents, and caregivers to establish achievable goals.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students, either individually or in small groups, focusing on improving articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and pragmatic skills.
  • Monitor and track student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the implementation of therapeutic strategies within the classroom and home environments.
  • Participate actively in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings, contributing valuable insights and recommendations regarding speech and language goals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and student progress according to school policies and state regulations.
  • Stay informed of current research, trends, and best practices in speech-language pathology to continually enhance service delivery and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) from an accredited program.
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) and Rhode Island state licensure or eligibility for licensure.
  • Previous experience in a school setting or working with pediatric populations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of various communication disorders and their impact on learning and development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage caseload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
