The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. The ST performs duties according to scope of practice designated by OrthoRI and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Delivers safe patient care according to Ortho RI policy and procedureDemonstrates ability to respond to patient care needs in an emergency and under direction of Clinical Leader/Registered NurseDemonstrates ability to meet patients and family's learning needs as identified in the plan of care under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered NurseFunctions as a certified scrub technician in the operating room/procedure room under the direction of the Registered NurseAssists with care, preparation, maintenance, and after-care of sterile and un-sterile supplies and equipmentDemonstrates ability to understand and use sterilizers, high-level disinfectors, instrument washers, and other designated processorsDemonstrates understanding of operating room/procedure room technical equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines, policy and proceduresAssists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of suppliesChecks updated schedule every morning and prepares room supplies and equipmentParticipates in scheduled performance appraisals and demonstrates dedication to ongoing performance improvementResponsibly demonstrates and the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in professionCommunicates all relevant patient information to physician, Facility Manager, and appropriate staff in a safe and confidential mannerPerforms all other duties as assigned by managementCompliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulationsRequired Education and Experience
High School Graduate or equivalentBLS requiredAny combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.At least one year of experience as a Surgical Technician in the ORPhysical Demands:
- Requires mobility, frequent walking, standing, and sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching and periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to converse and hear.
- Requires normal (corrected) vision.
- Requires coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment
Work Environment:
This job operates in ambulatory surgical center.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but may vary depend on Company Schedule.
