A Brief Overview:

The Software Development Engineer - SRE is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of distributed store technologies that power thousands of locations nationwide - including pharmacy platforms, Point of Sale (POS) systems, handheld devices, store servers, dispensing locations, and connectivity infrastructure. You will drive improvements in observability, monitoring, and Dev Ops practices to enhance system resilience and accelerate lead time for core development initiatives.

What You Will Do:

Observability & Monitoring Collaborate and implement observability solutions using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, etc. to ensure visibility into retail and pharmacy systems

Develop proactive alerting and dashboarding strategies to detect and resolve issues before they impact customers and store operations

Manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and error budgets for critical retail applications

Involved in incident response and postmortem processes to drive continuous improvement

Performance & Reliability Engineering Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in development and deployment workflows to improve lead time and reduce change failure rates

Conduct performance testing and reliability audits to ensure system robustness

Partner with development teams to embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles into the software development lifecycle

Support and optimize applications deployed across CVS retail and pharmacy locations

Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure and store operations teams to ensure high availability and performance of store systems

Microservices & Deployments Champion containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes in hybrid cloud environments

Leverage CI/CD pipelines to enable automated deployments at scale

Understanding of microservices architecture

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field2+ years of experience in SRE, Dev Ops, or related technology roles2+ years of overall digital or other applicable technology delivery experience2+ years of experience in delivering software in a large-scale environment with reliability and resilience concepts (multi-region, multi-cloud, containerization, etc.)1+ year of experience with programming languages/frameworks1+ year of experience on Cloud Technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Experience with observability, AIOps and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.

Experience using customer feedback tools such as Quantum Metrics, Medalia, and Adobe Analytics Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting retail or pharmacy systems at scale

Experience in Incident Management, Change Management, Infrastructure Support, and Problem Management concepts and processes

Experience in scripting, AIOps and automation frameworks

Experience with source control and continuous integration tools like Git Hub, Bit Bucket, or Jenkins Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native technologies

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is:$64,890.00 - $This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
