Position Summary
The Director of Paid Search, Discovery & Performance will lead search strategy and AI Discovery across Retail, Pharmacy, Health Services and emerging business units. The role ensures search investments drive measurable business outcomes, builds capabilities around a holistic search strategy, and orchestrates large-scale SEM & AI Advertising programs anchored in data and rigorous analytics.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute search leadership and AI Discovery strategy across all business units.
- Leverage data and analytics to drive tangible retail results, including incremental sales, prescriptions, vaccinations, clinic visits, and health services adoption.
- Orchestrate large‑scale SEM & AI advertising programs, managing and optimizing with advanced analytics.
- Utilize analytical thinking to extract insights from existing data sources and inform overall search strategy.
- Evaluate search marketing strategies to unlock new opportunities, identify trends, and communicate findings to marketing and executive partners.
- Design tests and hypotheses to uncover new growth areas and develop business cases to justify increased channel investment.
- Influence senior stakeholders and demonstrate the ongoing value of search campaigns.
- Collaborate with Omnichannel Marketing Strategy, Ecommerce, and other cross‑functional teams to pursue the broader digital growth agenda.
- Develop measurement plans for campaigns, ensuring accountability for every investment.
- Build relationships with business owners and marketing partners to provide strategic recommendations aligned with their goals.
- Serve as the executive subject‑matter expert on Search, AI Discovery, and emerging AI advertising platforms, advising vice presidents and senior enterprise leadership.
- Oversee collaborative strategy with the Director of SEO/AEO/GEO and the Executive Director of SD&P for program growth.
- Manage the Retailer Media Platform (CMX), enabling co‑op campaigns with vendor partners.
- Lead a cross‑functional team and maintain high productivity across diverse skill sets.
- 10+ years of search (SEM) analytics experience, combining brand and performance marketing.
- Proficiency with Google Ads, Adobe, Live Ramp, You Tube, and AI tools such as Agentix, Gemini, ChatGPT, OpenAI.
- Experience leading high‑performing cross‑functional teams on strategic growth initiatives that span SEM, SEO, content, and commerce optimization.
- Retail/e‑commerce expertise, including product‑centric search campaigns (PLAs, LIAs), data feeds, and retail media teams.
- Development of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) ads strategies and testing of emerging AI advertising capabilities.
- Strong understanding of audience targeting, triggering, and measurement technology.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Advanced data analysis skills, including ROI modeling and business case development.
- Demonstrated track record of increasing traffic and conversion.
- Thought‑leader with curiosity across search advertising.
- Ability to collaborate with SEO, product, and content teams to maximize Total Search outcomes.
- Experience managing both paid and organic search programs for large enterprises.
- Collaborative mindset with internal and external constituencies.
- Familiarity with Media Mix Modeling and Multi‑Touch Attribution.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or knowledge of relevant policies.
- Self‑starter, independent worker, and strong problem‑solver.
- Retail experience, especially with shopping campaigns and data feeds.
- MBA preferred; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience acceptable.
