Rhode Island Free Clinic is nationally recognized for its volunteer and community partner model. We believe in strengthening our community by providing people with the resources, education, and support they need to improve their health and well‑being. The Clinic also serves as a training site for more than 150 healthcare trainees annually. The Clinic leverages hundreds of volunteers and millions of dollars in donated healthcare services, medications, and professional expertise to provide comprehensive medical, dental, specialty, medication access, and wellness services to low‑income, uninsured Rhode Islanders.

Volunteers are the foundation of the Clinic's model and are essential to delivering high‑quality care and support services.

The Non-Provider Volunteer Engagement VISTA will strengthen the Rhode Island Free Clinic's capacity to recruit, onboard, engage, and retain non‑clinical volunteers. The member will develop and improve volunteer management systems, create training and recognition resources, support volunteer recruitment initiatives, and strengthen partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions. Working closely with staff and volunteers, the VISTA will help enhance the volunteer experience and improve processes for tracking volunteer engagement and outcomes, building a sustainable volunteer workforce that supports the Clinic's mission of providing free healthcare services to uninsured Rhode Islanders.
