Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Engagement Officer (EO) will serve as a digital-first fundraiser within the school’s Advancement Team. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Giving, the EO will be responsible for strengthening St. George’s relationships with entry-level donors and constituents—primarily alumni—to help build and sustain the school’s donor pipeline.

This position may be fully remote, although a hybrid-remote arrangement is preferred for candidates within driving distance of campus. Fully remote employees will be expected to travel to campus for key events throughout the year, including Family Weekend, Grandparents Day, Alumni Weekend, selected regional receptions, the Dragon Cup, and other special events, as needed.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Advancement and the Leadership Giving team, the Engagement Officer will also develop, implement, and manage donor stewardship initiatives and recognition programs.

Engagement and Fundraising
  • Cultivate a carefully curated portfolio of 1,000+ donors and prospects, securing at least 300 meetings annually via phone, video calls, and occasional in-person visits.
  • Solicit donors to support the SG (annual) Fund through telephone calls, video calls, email, text, social media, and other applicable channels.
  • Conduct primarily virtual meetings with current and prospective donors to build relationships, communicate St. George’s mission and philanthropic priorities, and solicit support when appropriate; document conversations and follow-up actions.
  • Connect donors interested in learning more about giving opportunities with the appropriate members of the Leadership Gifts Team.
  • Create personalized videos and other digital deliverables to communicate and engage with donors and prospective donors.
  • Coordinate the collection, editing, and publication of alumni class notes for the alumni magazine, working closely with class correspondents and the Communications Office; distribute class-specific alumni updates as needed.
Stewardship
  • Engage donors supporting capital and endowment initiatives, assisting with recognition efforts to ensure they feel appreciated and understand the impact of their philanthropy.
  • Draft and produce endowed and current-use funding reports, as well as high-level stewardship pieces that showcase impact and ensure donors are recognized for their generosity.
  • Manage donor stewardship gifts for the department.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills
  • Experience in relationship building, cold calling, fundraising, or sales
  • A high level of self-motivation and self-direction; tenacity and grit are essential
  • Inquisitiveness, and a genuine interest in others
  • Humility, and a willingness to learn from others and from one’s own mistakes
  • Comfort and grace in front of a camera
  • Proficiency using artificial intelligence and other technology to streamline workflow
  • Aptitude interacting with high-level donors, prospects, trustees, and school officials with tact and diplomacy
  • The ability to flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while deftly managing occasionally competing priorities
  • A keen sense of discretion, especially when dealing with confidential material
  • A strong belief in the value of an independent school education
  • Experience using relational databases, such as Salesforce, and office software applications, like G-suite
  • Access to a stable, high-speed internet connection while working remotely
  • Experience in collegiate phone-a-thon programs a plus
