Shortage Control Associate
Contribute to a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you directly influence store security and the overall shopping experience by maintaining command presence, knowledge of theft trends, and a positive reputation for control. Your presence at store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas helps mitigate theft and creates a safe, enjoyable environment for customers.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor entrances and exits throughout each shift, reducing opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest activities.
- Engage customers and associates with confidence, friendliness, and energy, greeting each interaction with eye contact and a smile.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with dress standards, radio, and earpiece requirements.
- Stand at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of surroundings.
- Promote a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft.
- Communicate theft prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure safety and security standards are met.
- Support training of associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Model safety, address unsafe practices promptly, and provide guidance on security procedures.
- Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
- 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment.
- Strong confidentiality skills.
- Proficiency in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting business trends.
- Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
- Capacity to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
- Excellent communication skills with customers and coworkers.
- Leadership skills that foster productive business relationships.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Competitive wage: $16 per hour
