Position: Oncology Clinical Account Executive, Rhode Island/Southern MA

Ideal Candidate will reside in Rhode Island or Southern MA.

Responsibilities
  • Drive strategic business expansion and collaboration opportunities with major U.S. cancer centers, clinics, the top 20 largest oncology practices, KOLs, and AMCs in the territory.
  • Structure detailed strategic plans to gain and retain new and existing clients.
  • Maximize client-bill contracting opportunities.
  • Implement laboratory services agreements (LSA’s) with bill account institutions.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with all sales positions (VP, Sales, RSD’s, DSM’s, SAM’s, and GL’s) to ensure successful attainment of company goals and objectives.
  • Identify and develop partnering opportunities between prospective oncology clients and Tempus.
  • Promote and drive compliance with new web-based molecular information tools for all clients.
  • Continuously analyze competitive landscape and environment within assigned accounts to determine trends and provide customer feedback to Tempus leadership.
  • Monitor performance of sales to ensure objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for the territory, including budgets, travel, territory management, and goal setting.
  • Work effectively with individuals across multiple departments throughout Tempus.
  • Embrace, embody, and represent the Tempus company culture at all times to external and internal constituents.
Required Skills
  • Ability to provide an integrated Mol Dx/SaaS solution using Tempus’s sequencing technology to prospects and customers.
  • Consultative selling skills to overcome objections and connect client needs with Tempus’ capabilities.
  • Comfortable selling at the executive level (CEO, COO, CFO).
  • Keen understanding of the payor and reimbursement environment in oncology and diagnostics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and critical deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge of molecular diagnostics in oncology, competitive landscape, and emerging therapies.
  • Excellent knowledge of oncology, hematology, chemo therapeutics, and targeted agents.
  • Superior negotiation, customer service, listening, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Consistent closing ability throughout the sales cycle.
  • Positive attitude and understanding of organizational growth dynamics.
  • Impeccable oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and
  • Ability to develop cross‑functional relationships to achieve goals.
  • Strong administrative skills and the ability to manage business in complex environments.
  • Frequent travel (> 50%) throughout the territory as needed.
Required Education & Experience
  • B.S. in life science, biology, business, or marketing (MBA preferred).
  • 3+ years of direct account management experience in a molecular diagnostic setting with proven revenue generation.
  • Experience working with major cancer centers, clinics, oncology GPOs, large health systems, IHDNs, and large oncology practices.
  • Demonstrated measurable revenue generation in a diagnostic, pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.

Salary: $95,000–$155,000. The range applies to positions performed in Massachusetts and may vary for other locations (California, Illinois, New York). Salary may also vary based on qualifications and experience.
