** The State annually employs qualified responsible individuals in a variety of positions with the State's Parks, Beaches, Research Programs, and Administrative Offices during a specific limited period.  Applicants will be considered for open seasonal positions based on their qualifications, availability, and willingness to travel to the assigned location (s).

** Class Definition**## Class Definition This position assists in management programs and research studies to promote healthy, resilient forests.## Illustrative Examples of Work Performed This applicant will be required to perform a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to monitoring a variety of insect populations, and may be required to analyze and interpret the findings. This position also assists in the installation of various insect trap types, monitoring and maintaining traps, and insect collection;
Data collection, compilation, and recording;
Distributing Forest health materials and other public outreach activities and events;
Following federal and state guidelines for field research, sample collection, data management, and reporting as well as equipment and facility maintenance.##

Required Qualifications for Appointment Eligible candidates must have a Degree in Entomology, Forestry/Forest Management, Plant pathology, (Forest) Ecology, Botany, OR similar biological science, OR be currently enrolled in college and having had courses in those disciplines OR have equivalent field experience.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.  Must be able to work outdoors, often in varying weather and environmental conditions.  

This position requires a commitment of a 35-hour work week, occasionally on a weekend, from spring through the fall, with some flexibility with scheduled work hours and start/end dates.  Must be 18 years of age to apply for this position.#
