Salary Range: $31.25 To $40.87 Hourly
OverviewThe Instrument Repair Technician supports the bench-based diagnosis, repair, testing, and refurbishment of analytical laboratory instruments.
Key Responsibilities- Bench Repair & Technical Service:
Perform in-house, bench-based diagnostics, repair, calibration, and preventative maintenance on analytical instruments; disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical, electrical, and fluidic components; assist senior technicians with complex repairs and refurbishment projects; conduct functional testing and verification to ensure quality and performance standards are met; accurately document repair activities, findings, test results, and parts usage; and maintain service benches, tools, and test equipment in proper condition. - Documentation &
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Maintain service records, repair documentation, and internal technical references; contribute to internal knowledge bases related to common instrument issues and configurations; and communicate clearly with service and operations teams regarding instrument status and turnaround times.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education:
Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in electronics, instrumentation, or engineering technology. - Technical Proficiency:
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with fluidics experience preferred; hands-on experience with bench tools and test equipment. - Problem-Solving:
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions. - Communication:
Ability to document technical findings clearly and communicate effectively with service, operations, and customer-facing teams. - Computer
Skills:
Basic computer proficiency for documentation, communication, and internal recordkeeping.
- Experience with analytical or scientific laboratory instruments; familiarity with chromatography, spectroscopy, or precision measurement systems; and exposure to laboratory or regulated environments.
- Clear, professional communicator; detail-oriented and well organized; collaborative and responsive in a technical service environment; and motivated to learn new instruments and technologies.
- Bench-based role in an in-house service or laboratory environment with standard business hours.
