Lead Field Service Hvac Controls/Bas Technician
As a Lead Field Service HVAC Controls/BAS Technician here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support and service for HVAC control systems and building automation systems (BAS). You will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our systems while serving as a technical lead and delivering exceptional service to our customers.
You will report directly to our Service Manager, and you'll work out of our Acton, MA location on a Hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will impact customer satisfaction and operational efficiency by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex HVAC control issues, leading system installations and commissioning, providing technical guidance to other technicians, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead onsite installation, commissioning, and service of Honeywell Building Automation Systems (BAS), including DDC controllers, HVAC equipment, and networked control devices.
- Serve as the technical lead on projects and service activities, providing direction, training, and support to other technicians, subcontractors, and customers to ensure quality and timely execution.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics of HVAC control systems, including VAVs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks (BACnet, Modbus, Lon Works).
- Program, configure, and commission Honeywell platforms such as Spyder, CIPer, WEBs, EBI, and Niagara-based systems.
- Interpret control drawings, wiring schematics, and sequences of operation to validate system functionality and ensure proper integration.
- Conduct system startups, point-to-point verification, functional performance testing, and commissioning activities to meet project specifications and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, customers, and other trades to resolve technical issues, provide field leadership, and maintain project schedules.
- Identify system optimization opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reliability, and overall building performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and assist with developing their troubleshooting, commissioning, and controls knowledge.
- Ensure accurate documentation, redlines, service reports, and as-built drawings are completed and submitted in accordance with Honeywell standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to Honeywell safety protocols, quality processes, and customer site compliance requirements.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC controls and building automation systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, DDC systems, and BAS technologies.
- Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting and diagnosing complex HVAC control and BAS issues.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with programming, configuring, commissioning, and modifying HVAC control systems, including DDC controllers and software.
- Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, or direction to other field technicians.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.

- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, HVAC Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
- Niagara (Niagara
4) Certification preferred or willing to get certification. - Advanced knowledge of Honeywell BAS platforms such as Spyder, CIPer, WEBs, EBI, and Niagara.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across HVAC controls, DDC systems, and open protocols (BACnet, Modbus, Lon Works).
- Experience leading field installations, startups, commissioning activities, and complex service calls.
- Experience interpreting sequences of operation, control drawings, wiring schematics, and system architecture.
- Ability to work independently in the field while providing technical support and leadership to other technicians.
- NICET or other industry certifications.
- Strong customer communication, leadership, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
