**** Required Qualifications for Appointment
** Such as may have been gained through possession of a  Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities or any other appropriate discipline Master's Degree preferred; or that which may have been gained through employment in a responsible position working with children of all developmental ages and their respective families. Applicants must have strong communication skills and exceptional writing skills.  

Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to work within a judicial setting which will require the capacity to effectively communicate sensitive and confidential information to the Administration, judges, licensed clinicians, and all supportive entities in other state agencies and community providers. The position will require the ability to work with diverse populations in court proceedings. Social Caseworkers will be required to work and communicate effectively in office settings, committees, meetings, and independently.

Applicants should be knowledgeable and experienced with evidence based practices. Applicants must have the ability to work a flexible schedule and in a nonstandard workday if deemed necessary to carry out job functions or at the discretion of the Administration.#
** Supplemental Information
** Responsible for providing case management in several areas of the Family Court which may include Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare. The position will require the ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with the Family Court administration, the RI Mental Health Clinic, community providers and federal partners, when appropriate. Case manager(s) may be asked to work with a host of diverse populations that may involve complex family dynamics;

truancy related issues; history of trauma; mental health needs. Responsible for screening and authorizing Wayward and Delinquent petitions that are referred to the Rhode Island Family Court Intake Unit. Evaluate juvenile petitions to determine if informal or formal procedures are required. Gather and examine all information that supports the authorization of the juvenile petitions. Schedule and meet with juvenile offenders and their parents/guardians for informal hearings when appropriate.

Determine the appropriate consequences and interventions that will meet the needs of the juvenile offender and any victims. Monitor and track juvenile progress when informal dispositions are reached. Social Case Workers will be required to case manage a range of developmental areas, Case managers will be responsible for making observations to be utilized by clinicians and court personnel. Communication will transpire through both written reports and verbal presentations.

Job responsibilities may also involve case management through new initiatives developed by the Family Court Administration. Must be able to perform any and all related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Judge and/or Family Court Administrator.#
