** About the Opportunity:
** The Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) is one of six national mathematical sciences institutes predominantly funded by the National Science Foundation. Each year we bring together approximately 1,000 researchers from around the globe to collaborate on challenging topics within and around the computational domain. ICERM is a dynamic, active environment supported and managed by 14 full time professional staff and 9 directors.
ICERM is one of several math institutes funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Launched at Brown University in 2010, the institute’s funding has been renewed by the NSF through 2030. Prior to that date the institute will request renewal for another 5-year grant. This stable cycle of repeat funding in 5-year increments is the typical model for successful NSF-funded math institutes.
** Responsibilities:
** The System Administrator administers technology infrastructure, software, and systems supporting the research and administrative activities of the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics. This individual is responsible for web services for ICERM and related organizations and activities, including and . In addition, the employee manages the implementation and maintenance of A/V, lecture capture, and video conferencing systems. This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 8/31/2030 which may be extended based upon available funding.

* Qualifications:
****** Education and Experience
***** Bachelor’s degree in technology, Computer science or related field, and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience with Web Application development environments preferred
* Technical support experience, especially in higher education preferred
**** Job Competencies
***** Experience with multiple platforms (Linux, Mac OS, Windows) in both server and client implementations required, certification preferred.
* Strong Linux administration skills
* Experience with Cloud based platforms, SaaS and DaaS systems.
* Knowledge of content management systems, web application frameworks.
* Proficiency with Python and/or Shell scripting.
* Proficiency using Git/Github or similar version control software.
* Working knowledge of server technologies and networking concepts, load balancing, LDAP, TLS, and HTTPS
* Knowledge of multi-media presentation and lecture capture systems desired.
* Knowledge of IP based video conferencing systems desired.
* Understanding of high-performance computing a plus
* Ability to understand users’ requirements in a research environment, and to generate user-friendly solutions quickly within the context of ICERM’s initiatives and goals.
* Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a complex environment with competing demands.
* Proven strong interpersonal and customer service skills in interacting effectively and diplomatically with local, national and international customers.
Salary Grade:10
Additional Information:
This position is expected to work occasional night and weekend hours as dictated by ICERM’s event schedule.
