- Valid Ohio Department of Education licensure in PreK-3, PreK-5, or Elementary Education (K–8) is required.
- Gifted Intervention Specialist (K-12) endorsement is highly preferred or willingness and eligibility to obtain an Ohio Supplemental Teaching License in the area of Gifted Education. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining the supplemental license and successfully completing the Gifted Endorsement or Certificate program within the district-established timeline.
- Understanding of Ohio's New Learning Standards and Ohio's Gifted policies and guidelines
- Training and experience with the use of computers, programs, mobile devices and other educational technology to ensure students know how to learn, think critically, solve problems, use information, communicate, innovate, create, and collaborate
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work closely with teachers, students, parents, and administration to implement special programs, parent or volunteer groups, and integrated curricula
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop constructive relationships with others
- Experience with helping others to understand a differentiated, learner-centered classroom
- Strong understanding and knowledge of curriculum development (K-12); familiarity with cooperative grouping techniques, learning styles and multiple intelligence
- Ability to plan and execute lessons to accommodate for all learner needs (remedial through enriched)
- Ability to assume responsibility with a minimum of direct supervision
- Awareness of the social and emotional needs of the gifted student
- Commitment to improving student performance as measured through diagnostic, formative and summative assessments, and using data to drive instruction
- Understanding of co-teaching models and ability and willingness to co-teach with classroom teachers
- Ability to plan, lead and facilitate professional development throughout the district when needed
- Ability to model lessons to incorporate the needs of all learners through a variety of instruction strategies
- Understanding of rigor and deeper level questioning to move students to meet their highest potential
- Deep understanding of NWEA and appropriate use of data to support teachers
- Ability to guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning in the building(s)/district
- Plan, lead and facilitate professional development throughout the district when needed
- Model lessons to incorporate the needs of all learners through a variety of instruction strategies
- Use data to drive instruction and monitor student progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement co-teaching models and differentiate instruction
- Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students
- Support the social and emotional needs of gifted students
- Contribute to curriculum development and integrated instructional planning
- Engage with parents, students, and administration to support program goals
