Overview
Position: Library Technician (Support Staff/Paraprofessionals and Aides/ Class 15)
Location: Wooster High School

The library technician is generally in charge of the processing and circulation of library/media materials in the school library.
Qualifications- Currently hold or have the ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit with an ESEA-Qualified Endorsement REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of processing and circulation media center materials.
- Ability to accurately follow written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to supervise students.
- Ability to collaboratively work with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to support and encourage all students.
- Must be able to control temper and keep calm in all situations, and possess the ability to respond quickly when needed.
- Must maintain confidentiality with appropriate parties at all times.
- Circulate library/media to teachers and students and assist in their selection and use.
- Process library/media materials following established procedures.
- Maintain the card catalog.
- Repair books and media as needed and service equipment as directed.
- Maintain an attractive, orderly library conducive to learning.
- Assist in the total library/media program as assigned.
- Assists co-workers as required.
- Performs other tasks as may be required by administration.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissues.
- Occasional interaction among unruly students.
Knowledge of board policies and procedures; ability to catalog books and other materials; ability to use computers.
Legal RequirementsEmployees must pass a criminal background investigation and provide a fingerprint card prior to employment.
