Mechanical Project Engineer

Overview

McGraw Kokosing is a leading MEP and industrial maintenance contractor based in Middletown, OH. We offer off-site manufacturing and assembly, pipe fabrication and installation, electrical and instrumentation, structural steel erection, rigging, and equipment setting. We serve industries including steel, power, oil and gas, data center, and food and beverage, providing services such as planned plant outages, emergency maintenance, and capital improvement projects for new and existing facilities.

Our preconstruction services include risk assessments, budget validation, and 3D modeling to meet and exceed client expectations.

The mechanical project engineer will support a team in the implementation of piping and mechanical systems for large-scale industrial construction projects. They will be involved in mission-critical projects, taking the project from pre-construction through final acceptance to successful completion. They are directly responsible for project safety and quality, project budget, schedule and job controls, vendor management, submittals, and procedures.

• Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities, including planning procurement, design review, project controls, and work assignments.
• Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule.
• Prepare documents to obtain quotes from vendors for material, equipment, and other specialty items.
• Track material deliveries.
• Interface with departments, divisions, and internal staff on budgeting, staffing, discipline of employees, training/development, scheduling, and other activities involving discretion and judgment.
• Review engineering plans and vendor submittals.
• Monitor crew assignments to meet productivity goals.
• Conduct field walks and spot checks of work being performed.
• Ensure compliance with county, state, and OSHA policies and regulations.

• 2+ years of experience as a construction Project Engineer.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.

• Understand, interpret, and apply safety laws, company policies, and standards.
• Apply effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Build trust and achieve results with clients and team members.
• Read drawings and interpret work specifications and scopes.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete tasks as a team in a high-quality manner.
