About the Role:

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical instruments used in patient care within healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for the meticulous cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment. The technician ensures that all instruments meet strict regulatory and quality standards to prevent infection and maintain patient safety.

Working closely with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals, the role supports seamless clinical operations by providing sterile and ready-to-use instruments. Ultimately, the Sterile Processing Technician contributes to positive patient outcomes by maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to established protocols.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain CRCST and CER certifications within 18 months of hire.
• Basic knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and medical terminology.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain strict adherence to safety and quality protocols.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle instruments and equipment safely.

• Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent.
• Experience working in a hospital or surgical center sterile processing department.
• Familiarity with electronic tracking systems for instrument management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.

• Decontaminate, clean, and inspect surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols and safety standards.
• Assemble and package instruments and trays for sterilization, ensuring accuracy and completeness according to surgical procedure requirements.
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and chemical sterilizers, monitoring cycles and documenting results to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and instruments, restocking as necessary to support surgical schedules and emergency needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff to address instrument needs, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure timely delivery of sterile materials.
