Buyer
Job Description
As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in sourcing, ordering, and expediting materials to ensure seamless production and service schedules. You will manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of materials, while supporting inventory goals.
Responsibilities
+ Assist the Purchasing Manager with sourcing, ordering, and expediting materials.
+ Order materials managed by the MRP and manage MRP changes with the supply base.
+ Review and validate immediate and forecasted purchase requirements.
+ Update and modify purchase orders and inventory schedules as required.
+ Schedule purchased parts to support production schedule and service forecast requirements.
+ Follow up with suppliers and expedite as required to ensure on-time delivery.
+ Manage on-time delivery performance by resolving constraints at the supplier or internal level.
+ Improve supplier relationships and serve as primary contact for designated suppliers.
+ Manage inventory balances to support inventory 'turns' goals and customer flexibility requirements.
+ Select vendors for parts purchase at the most cost-effective price, meeting quality standards and delivery requirements.
+ Monitor and follow up with production to ensure timely flow of manufactured materials.
+ Assist with monthly cycle records associated with purchasing, supplying information to accounting, sales, and production.
+ Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
+ Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
+ Work closely with production staff to ensure non-conforming materials are processed timely.
+ Participate hands-on with inventory storage and improvement projects.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in inventory control and management.
+ Proficiency in purchasing, purchase order management, and procurement.
+
Experience with ERP systems, particularly JD Edwards preferred.
+ Strong communication and negotiation skills.
+ Proficiency in Excel and Word.
+ Excellent time management and organizational skills.
+ Problem-solving and solutions-driven approach.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
+ Certifications such as CPM, CPSM, CSM, or CPIM are advantageous.
+
Experience with supplier audits and procurement & supplier management.
+ Ability to present ideas and findings effectively.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an indoor office environment with standard working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Occasionally, exposure to a manufacturing environment may occur, including noise and outdoor conditions. The role may require lifting up to 25 pounds and frequent attendance ability to comprehend voices, sounds, and visual instruments is necessary. Tools and equipment used include a personal computer and other office equipment.
Appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection, may be required.

This is a Contract position based out of Wooster, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
