Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.

Maintenance technician works on systems that are an amalgamation of both electrical and mechanical works. They perform preventative and regular maintenance on mechanical systems and are also trained in handling moderate and complex repair work.

Since this is a high-energy job, employers typically look for people who are available for emergency overtime and have the capacity to self-direct. The ability to stay organized and handle difficult maintenance and repair issues by exercising tact is also a prerequisite for this position.

A maintenance technician must possess knowledge of working safely in a possibly hazardous environment. People who have experience in working in manufacturing environments are usually given preference for this position. Here is a list of duties that the maintenance technician will perform on a typical workday:

• Perform maintenance of electrical systems ()
• Modify and adjust complex process equipment and instruments
• Perform regular and preventative maintenance on installed mechanical equipment
• Align and fit assemblies using hand and power tools
• Perform inspection on a daily basis to determine startup problems
• Verify part dimensions with a view to conform to provided specifications
• Diagnose issues with complex control systems and employ tactics to resolve them effectively
• Maintain knowledge of drawings, blueprints, schematics and inspection manuals
• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production
• Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and diagrams.
• Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is desired
