Industrial Maintenance Technician (Multi-Craft) – Night Shift

This multi-craft Industrial Maintenance Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems in a busy industrial manufacturing facility on a 7pm–7am night shift (3-3-4-4 rotation). The position is approximately 75% electrical and 25% mechanical, working with 480v systems, PLCs, and a wide range of production equipment to keep operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, and electronic systems throughout the industrial facility.
  • Perform electrical maintenance on 480v systems, including diagnosing issues, replacing fuses, switches, solenoids, sensors, relays, and gates, and ensuring safe operation of equipment.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance schedule to minimize equipment breakdowns, prioritize repairs, and coordinate activities with plant leadership.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on conveyors, mixers, fabrication equipment, and auxiliary machinery to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
  • Inspect and maintain air compressors, cooling water systems, and extrusion press operations on a daily basis to ensure proper performance.
  • Assist with the installation, modification, and upgrade of equipment to improve safety, efficiency, and production capabilities.
  • Set up and operate shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, horizontal and vertical band saws, end mills, pipe threaders, and other metalworking tools to repair or fabricate parts.
  • Dismantle devices and machinery using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to access and remove defective components, then reassemble and test equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance and automation issues.
  • Support PLC troubleshooting efforts, working with ladder logic to identify faults and assist in resolving control system problems.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and related documentation accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain plumbing and electrical service to the building and surrounding property as needed, ensuring all systems function properly.
  • Collaborate with and take direction from the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure maintenance activities are prioritized and executed efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols, participate in regular safety training, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
  • Respond to maintenance needs in a timely manner, including working overtime when required to support production and equipment reliability.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance processes and equipment performance.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5+ years of experience with 480v electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong exp with multi-craft maintenance with approximately 75% electrical and 25% mechanical responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs, including ladder logic, in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Proficiency in replacing electrical components such as fuses, switches, solenoids, sensors, and relays.
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and automation equipment.
  • Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices for industrial machinery and facility systems.
  • Capability to perform minor electrical repairs safely and in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Ability to use hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to dismantle and reassemble equipment.
  • Comfort working on a 7pm–7am night shift on a 3-3-4-4 rotation, with the flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Ownership of a complete set of personal tools appropriate for industrial maintenance work.
