Reed Farm is seeking the right person to fill a year‑round position as a Farm Office Assistant
. The ideal candidate has some office, administrative, or customer service experience related to agriculture. They enjoy hard work with integrity in a fun and dedicated team dynamic, and they are passionate about local food systems as well as sustainable and regenerative agriculture. Willing to train the right person.
$25‑$28/hour based on experience, accrued sick time, two weeks paid vacation, paid overtime (if over 40 hours in the week), plus chicken and eggs.
SchedulePart‑time, year‑round. ~25 hours/week (Monday to Friday, variable but generally 9am‑2:30pm with unpaid half hour lunch break). Some flexible hours available to accommodate school schedules. Potential to become full‑time within a few years.
About Reed FarmReed Farm is a family‑owned and operated, innovative, small‑scale pastured (as season allows) poultry farm and on‑farm state‑inspected poultry processing facility in Western Massachusetts. We raise poultry for wholesale and provide the local farming community with custom poultry processing services. We are progressing toward a USDA Grant of Inspection, after which we will be the sole USDA poultry processing facility in MA, filling a crucial gap in the local food system.

The Farm Office Assistant works closely with farm owners Kat and Peter and provides administrative and operational support for daily farm business activities. This role assists with customer communication, record‑keeping and filing, invoicing, inventory tracking, light housekeeping of common spaces, maintaining stock of farm and processing facility supplies, and coordination of farm operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced agricultural environment.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries
- Maintain farm records, invoices, receipts, and filing systems
- Assist with order processing, billing, and payment tracking
- Coordinate delivery schedules and handle customer pickups
- Track inventory, supplies, and product availability
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and data entry records
- Support payroll, employee scheduling, and timekeeping
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and farm staff
- Maintain organized office and administrative systems
- Perform routine housekeeping to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming common spaces
- Assist with planning and organization of on‑ and off‑farm events, tours, and workshops
- Help ensure compliance with food safety and farm documentation requirements
- Support grant management and reporting
- Update and maintain website content
- Help create newsletters, flyers, social media posts, and promotional materials
- Support farm operations during busy production periods when needed
- Represent Reed Farm with courteous demeanor and appearance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Dropbox, and similar software
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy with records and data entry
- Ability to sit, stand, and use office equipment for extended periods
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Ability to move between office, warehouse, and farm areas as needed
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Access to reliable transportation for commuting to farm for work
- Experience in agriculture, food production, or farm operations
- Familiarity with bookkeeping or accounting software
- Experience with Webflow platform for website design and maintenance
- Ability to create high‑quality visual content for farm marketing and outreach
- Early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday availability during peak production periods or special events
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and compile relevant information efficiently
- Knowledge of inventory management and scheduling systems
- Experience in pre‑ and post‑ grant management and reporting
- Knowledge of and passion for sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices
