Hiring Range: $19.74 - $29.27
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (40 hours per week). Day Shift 1 - 8 hours.
- Coordinate medical office activities and staff, including training, scheduling, process improvement, and performance monitoring.
- Transcribe medical reports from dictation and produce correspondence, reports, memos, and other documentation; proofread and edit materials for grammar, spelling, format, and style.
- Act as recording secretary; distribute meeting agenda and minutes.
- Serve as coordinator of residency, fellowship, clerkship, and education programs.
- Compose or select standard form letters for physicians’ responses to routine inquiries and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate inpatient and outpatient visits, procedures, and diagnostic testing; register patients; verify insurance coverage; assist with new-patient intake.
- Answer and screen phone calls; greet visitors; serve as liaison between patients, families, and caregivers; escort patients and chaperone examinations.
- Maintain patient charts, records, and documentation in accordance with organization standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Collect patient copayments, process payments, and maintain daily deposit records; perform on-site charge entry for billing submissions.
- Prepare and process routine administrative paperwork (expense requisitions, purchase requisitions, timesheets); maintain confidential files; monitor office supply inventory.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 6-12 months of additional specialized medical secretarial or medical-office training.
- 2-3 years of medical-secretarial or administrative support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Medi-Tech, IDX, Lynx, or similar systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: completion of a medical-secretary, medical-assistant, or related vocational training program.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Preferred: proficiency in an electronic health record (EHR) system and familiarity with medical terminology, insurance authorization processes, and clinical workflows.
Work is considered sedentary and performed indoors in a normal office environment.
