The Fiscal and Operations Specialist serves as a key member of the Student Affairs Business Service Center (SABSC), supporting fiscal, procurement, communications, and event-related operations. This position ensures the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, provides direct fiscal and administrative support to Student Affairs departments and student organizations, and oversees the development of reports, reconciliations, and communication materials. The Fiscal and Operations Specialist collaborates with campus partners to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with university policies.
In addition, the role supervises staff and student assistants, provides training and support on service center systems and procedures, and contributes to the overall success of Student Affairs by delivering exceptional customer service and fostering continuous improvement in business operations.
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three years of fiscal, administrative, or related experience, preferably in higher education.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of budgetary and financial concepts, with functional experience using People Soft Financial systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop reports and communication materials.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience supervising or training staff or students.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to balance the needs of students, staff, and departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Sound judgment, problem‑solving ability, and adaptability to change.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment.
- Knowledge of procurement, accounts payable, and fiscal compliance processes.
- Understanding of student life operations and the role of shared services in higher education.
- Familiarity with web programming and development tools.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work to support business cycles, events, and divisional priorities.
