A day in the life.

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is seeking a senior consultant to join our employee health & benefits team with a dedicated focus on private equity backed clients. This role is ideal for a consultative, strategic benefits professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with sophisticated investors and portfolio company leadership teams.

  • Serve as the lead consultant for private equity backed clients and their portfolio companies, delivering strategic health & benefits guidance.
  • Advise clients on benefits strategy, plan design, funding arrangements, compliance, and cost-containment solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Partner with private equity sponsors on M&A activity, including:
    • Benefits due diligence
    • Deal modeling and cost analysis
    • Post-transaction benefits integration and harmonization
  • Lead annual renewal strategy, vendor negotiations, and market placements.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal MMA resources (compliance, analytics, wellness, actuarial, and voluntary benefits teams).
  • Support portfolio companies at various stages of maturity, from early-stage growth to mature enterprises.
  • Present recommendations to executive leadership, boards, and investor groups.
  • Mentor junior consultants and analysts; contribute to team development and best practices.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and private equity market dynamics.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by participating in finalist meetings and assisting in the development of proposals and presentations.

We'd love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting or related role within a brokerage, carrier, or HR department.
  • Strong knowledge of health and welfare plan design, compliance, and funding arrangements.
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills and executive presence.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Licensed in Life & Health (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Shared commitment to company values; integrity, collaboration passion, innovation, accountability

The applicable base salary range for this role is $92,400 to $172,100.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
