Bentley University's Arts and Performance Organization seeks a Director of Music for our fall production of The Drowsy Chaperone. Production runs from the beginning of September to November 2026, with shows taking place during the weekend of November 19th. Upon contract clearance, the director of music will receive a stipend of $1,800 paid at the end of the production by the University.

Housing and transportation will not be provided.

• Teach students how to read and perform their music for the show.
• Encourage students to become stronger singers.
• Work closely with the Vice President of Production on all production aspects (lighting, sound, props, costumes, hair & makeup, etc.) to execute the vision for the show.
• Collaborate efficiently with the acting director—who runs rehearsals—and the choreographer who instructs dance numbers.

• Experience working with college‑aged students, especially those with little to no experience reading music and performing.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with production staff and other creative leaders.
• Experience with rehearsal piano accompaniment highly recommended.
• Preferred:
  Reside in the greater‑Boston area with a flexible schedule.

The Arts and Performance Organization (formerly known as the Alpha Psi Omega National Theater Honor Society) is the theater organization at Bentley University. We put on two shows a year—a musical in the fall and a straight show in the spring. We are a small but motivated group that enjoys bringing art to our very business‑oriented campus.
