The City of Worcester is seeking an applicant for the position of Youth Services Branch Library Assistant for the Worcester Public Library. The role reports to the Branch Manager of Youth Services and assists with the daily operations of assigned branch libraries located within Worcester elementary schools, coordinates and performs all circulation activities, acts as a liaison with the Main Library Circulation Department, organizes and performs the holds process, assists with reader advisory and reference services, and provides exemplary customer service to patrons.
The work includes evening and weekend assignments and work at other locations, including Mobile Services. The position requires the ability to travel to all four One City One Library branches in a timely manner. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
Support branch library operations, perform circulation activities, liaison duties with main circulation, manage holds, provide reader advisory and reference, and deliver excellent customer service in a fast‑paced, urban environment.

- Regular onsite attendance is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of community public service work such as library, day care center, recreation program, or classroom.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of CORI/SORI.
- Reliable transportation to travel between required One City One Library locations in a timely manner.
- Valid driver's license.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- One (1) year of professional experience working with youth.
