Overview

Quinsigamond Community College is seeking a full-time Electronics Engineering Technology faculty member. The position is located in Worcester, MA and reports to the Dean of the School of Computing and Applied Technology. The college seeks student-centered faculty who are committed to the community college mission and actively engaged in promoting diversity.

Facilities include classroom and laboratory instruction with hands-on, industry-relevant experiences. Courses are primarily held at QCC's Worcester Campus but may be offered at other locations as appropriate. The candidate may also serve as the program coordinator and engage in community-based outreach related to Electronics and Automation.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of Electronics Engineering Technology and related courses, including DC & AC Circuits, Electronics, PLCs, Microcontrollers, Industrial Robotics, and Troubleshooting & Maintenance of Mechatronic Systems; provide classroom and laboratory instruction with hands-on experiences reflecting current technologies and standards.
  • Develop and/or revise instructional materials and laboratory activities to align with program outcomes and industry needs.
  • Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students with varying learning styles and technical experience, including nontraditional learners and underrepresented populations.
  • Develop and apply assessment strategies that measure student learning outcomes and promote continuous improvement in technical and professional competencies.
  • Utilize software and equipment needed to support ELT and ELM courses; participate in program review, accreditation, and curriculum development, including integration of new technologies, equipment, and software.
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students pursuing engineering technology pathways.
  • Participate in college service activities in accordance with the MCCC Agreement.
  • With the aid of a Lab Assistant, maintain all Electronics Engineering Technology lab equipment and lab spaces; support and mentor adjunct faculty as needed.
  • Engage with industry partners and regional employers to align curriculum with workforce needs and support internship, apprenticeship, and job placement opportunities.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention activities to grow the Electronics Engineering Technology program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline plus 3-5 years progressive industry experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of practical applications of DC & AC circuits and electronics.
  • Experience in teaching or training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline, or ability to complete Master’s Degree within 5 years of date of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge base in two or more of the following areas:
    Wiring and Programming Programmable Logic Controllers, Automated Manufacturing Systems, Soldering Techniques, Robotics.
  • Five or more years of progressive industry experience in advanced manufacturing in Massachusetts or New England.
  • Two years of successful college/technical teaching, preferably in a community college or vocational/technical high school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with and ability to apply industry-recognized skill standards in the classroom.
  • Experience promoting innovation and open community-lab initiatives (e.g., Maker Faire, Fab Labs, Hackerspace).
  • Curriculum/course development and assessment experience.
  • Track record in innovative, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team teaching, online learning, and service learning.
  • Experience integrating computer technology into instruction.
  • Understanding of the role of community colleges and diversity appreciation; flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and alignment with the College’s mission.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
