Position: Extended School Year Summer Program-(Grades PreK-12) Special Education Teachers Job ID 1163

Overview

Bedford Public Schools invites applications for the position of Extended School Year Summer Program Special Education Teachers – Moderate Disabilities (7/6/26–7/30/26).

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and instruct students in small groups and individualized work for reading and math per IEP goals.
  • Write IEP goals and objectives and demonstrate knowledge of educational principles and strategies established by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care/DESE.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of district and school curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicating these objectives to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels.
  • Assess student learning on a regular basis using multiple forms of formative assessment to measure a child's functioning in the relevant developmental domains.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and provide reports of student progress as needed.
  • Create an engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing classroom-learning environment that promotes mutual respect among students.
  • Communicate student progress and development to parents and provide written assessments, referrals, and evaluations for students with special needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as required, model learning and behavior consistent with expectations for students, attend staff or team meetings, and serve on staff committees as necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness for all students.
  • Perform other such duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
  • Experience with ABA required.
  • Appropriate Massachusetts licensure.
