This position begins at the start of the  school year. To assist the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the standards of instruction.

• One year of college required; two years preferred.
• Physical condition to manage behavior/physically challenged students and lift 50 pounds.
• Basic understanding of child growth and development.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications that the Principal may deem appropriate or acceptable.

Principal

• Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Maintain current restraint program certification.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Implement student behavior plans.
• Be aware of identified student health concerns and assist as appropriate in collaboration with teacher and nurse.
• Assist with toileting/personal care/hygiene when necessary.
• Be aware of student‑assistance protocol.
• Assist with collecting, maintaining, and organizing data and portfolios, and/or work samples of students.
• Assist students with organization of desk, homework, class work and materials.
• Consult daily with teachers and other service providers when applicable.
• Facilitate student social interaction.
• Other duties as assigned by the teacher or Principal.

K-12 School

Frequent standing, walking, stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds; possible exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases depending on assignment.
