The Elementary School Teacher – Grade 2 will deliver high‑quality instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment while modeling the mission and character virtues of the school.
Work ScheduleDays:
Monday – Friday (occasional weekends for special events)
Schedule Details:
Based on the academic calendar, including vacations, holidays, snow days, and district professional development days.
- Model the mission and character virtues of the school.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of subject areas and best practices in pedagogy.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of school curriculum goals.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students.
- Plan instruction based upon explicit learning goals.
- Create learning experiences that develop students’ abilities and require the application of thinking skills.
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels.
- Organize instruction around essential questions or core learning objectives; teach for understanding and mastery; provide practice and extension opportunities.
- Assess student learning regularly using multiple forms of assessment; analyze data and report student progress.
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
- Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing.
- Carry out the school’s disciplinary code and procedures fairly and justly.
- Assign meaningful work that reinforces instruction.
- Communicate student progress to parents and involve families in education.
- Provide written assessments, referrals, and evaluations for students with special needs; participate in IEP meetings as required.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.
- Model learning and behavior consistent with expectations for students.
- Attend staff/team/department meetings and serve on staff committees.
- Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness.
- Build positive relationships with students to support academic and social development.
- Guide the learning process to achieve curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that best meet stated objectives.
- Assess students’ accomplishments regularly and provide timely progress reports.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth and adhere to educator evaluation processes as outlined by DESE.
- Integrate technology effectively into instruction.
- Engage in extracurricular activities and school community events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject area;
Master’s degree preferred. - Hold an appropriate Massachusetts educator license or pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within the first year.
- Teachers assigned to English Language Learners (ELLs) must obtain Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement within one year.
- Prior teaching experience at the elementary school level is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts state regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.
- Complete required professional development or certifications mandated by the district.
