Job Description
The Wentworth Institute of Technology division of Workforce Development and Professional Education invites applications for part‑time evening instructors to teach for our Journeyman Electrician license program. The position will lead in‑person courses, taught two evenings per week (5:00‑10:00 p.m.) on our Boston campus beginning in January
2025. The instructor will work with students preparing for the Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License Examination.
- Deliver lesson plans and course content on electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Provide hands‑on instruction in electrical theory, safety, and code compliance.
- Assist in developing and administering assessments and exams to evaluate student progress and achievement.
- Collaborate with instructors and staff to keep the curriculum up‑to‑date and aligned with industry standards.
- Offer academic advising and support to help students achieve educational and career goals.
- Maintain accurate student attendance records.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and standards.
- Ensure a safe and organized learning environment.
- Journeyman Electrical License in Massachusetts.
- Associates, vocational, or technical school degree.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the electrical industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, safety, and code compliance.
- Ability to teach and communicate complex concepts to students with diverse learning styles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical technology or a related field.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience in a related field.
Schedule:
two evenings per week, 5:00‑10:00 p.m., on the Boston campus. Start:
January
2025. Term: four‑semester accelerated journey.
Employment: part‑time evening instructor. No sponsorship for H‑1B visas. Compensation: minimum adjunct rate of $1,365 per credit; rate varies by instructional mode, credit hours, and program.
