Job DescriptionAs a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will provide rigorous instruction to a diverse student population, aligning lessons with the district and state curriculum, regularly assessing student comprehension, and adapting instruction to ensure learning. You will create a classroom conducive to the needs of all students, especially English learners and students with disabilities.

Accountability ObjectiveThis position is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment in line with Worcester Public Schools’ curriculum frameworks, standards, and regulations.
Principal Responsibilities- Maintain up‑to‑date curriculum knowledge.
- Plan and assess curriculum and instruction effectively.
- Support students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
- Manage the classroom environment effectively.
- Deliver instruction that includes clear learning goals, appropriate instructional techniques, and questioning strategies.
- Use innovative instructional strategies and technology to increase student learning and confidence.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second‑language learners.
- Ensure equitable educational opportunities for all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Valid Massachusetts DESE license in English as a Second Language (ESL), Spanish, Math/Science grades 5‑8.
- SEI endorsement.
- BA degree.
- Teaching experience in the content area.
- Experience supporting students with special needs.
- Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African language.
- Experience teaching English language learners.
- Experience with second‑language acquisition.
- Eligible for a temporary DESE license if licensed in another state (must have documented work experience for at least three school years; must apply for and pay for DESE license as condition of employment).
Work year: 185 days.
Salary: $61,410 to $113,833 per year, based on education level.
