Wellness Instructor
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for providing supervision and instruction to suspended students in an in-school suspension program. PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES : (to be included along with other responsibilities) 1. Responsible for tutoring basic skills within the in-school suspension program.
2. Responsible for interacting with professional staff (such as teachers, counselors, child study personnel), and parents in correcting the behavior which leads to the in-school suspension.
3. Responsible for working in multiple subject areas on the secondary school level to assist students in their educational growth and development.
4. Responsible for working with students to develop positive attitudes and motivations in attending school.
5. Responsible for working with appropriate community agencies and institutions in assisting students in developing to their fullest potential.
6. Responsible for working in a self-contained educatio0nal environment.
7. Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, sex, age, marital status, religion, national origin, or handicap.
8. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned to the in-school suspension program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Massachusetts DESE Teachers Licensure 2. SEI Endorsement
3. Bachelor's Degree
4. Experience in a secondary school setting.
5. Experience and background in relating to students and families in an urban setting.
6. Possession of skills in curriculum development, implementation and maintenance.
7. Demonstrated abilities in working with community agencies and institutions (such as Juvenile Court, Department of Social Services, etc.). 8. Ability to work in multiple subject areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
2. Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language. WORK YEAR: 185 days SALARY:
Salary scale shown is based on the candidate holding a Bachelor's Degree with the potential to increase dependent on the highest level of education.
