Central Massachusetts Collaborative - Worcester, Massachusetts ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
The Recovery Program Teacher is an energetic and flexible employee who is eager to work in our therapeutic day school with a high‑needs population. This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility of providing a rigorous and individualized instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the rules and regulations of the Central Massachusetts Collaborative.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement differentiated instructional experiences through creativity and resourcefulness which lends to the educational growth and development of the targeted student population.
  • Develop effective classroom presentation techniques and review, correct, and reinforce instructional lessons to enhance learning and retention.
  • Develop effective techniques for academic assessment and management of discipline and behavior reinforcement.
  • Align instruction with MA Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Assist students in building academic, social, and self‑regulatory skills.
  • Create a structured, therapeutic, safe environment for all students.
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for the class and individual students.
  • Address and handle students with behavioral issues.
  • Prepare students for MCAS test and MCAS alt.
  • Supervise students within school and transport and supervise students in community settings.
  • Exercise universal precautions and tolerate management of body fluids, if needed.
  • Conduct assessments, write reports and participate in team processes.
  • Write and implement IEPs and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, clinical staff, administrators and support service providers to address instructional, behavioral and recovery related issues.
  • Maintain data and all required documentation.
  • Supervise para‑professionals.
  • Complete CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention training upon hire and maintain CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decisions aligned with school regulations and philosophy and promote a positive school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies for multiple learning styles for all students.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner in all situations.
  • Be able to reach, grasp and handle objects using upper extremities and lift and carry objects and/or classroom equipment, up to 45 pounds.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the director.

    Position Type: Full‑time

    Salary: $54,600 to $104,000 Per Year

    Job Requirements

    Required Qualifications
    • Appropriate MA Teacher’s Certification.
    • Advanced educational preparation in the discipline or area of certification.
    • A minimum of 2 years of full‑time teaching experience with high‑risk youth.
    • Driving license and clean driving record.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with adolescents in an alternative, therapeutic, or high‑support setting.
    • Familiarity with the 12‑step model of recovery.
    • Experience with trauma‑informed care.
    • Familiarity with substance use recovery, harm reduction, and adolescent mental health.
    • Bachelor degree preferred.
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
