Building Principal

Wawecus Road is seeking an Educator committed to creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment. As a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will provide rigorous instruction to a diverse population of students. You will align instruction to district and state curriculum, regularly assess student learning, and adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners and students with disabilities.

Accountability Objective

This position is accountable for delivering a high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with curriculum frameworks, standards, and regulations.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Maintain current curriculum content.
  • Plan and assess curriculum and instruction effectively.
  • Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as appropriate.
  • Manage classroom environment effectively.
  • Provide instruction with clear learning goals, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
  • Use innovative approaches, instructional strategies, and technology to increase student learning and confidence.
  • Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.
  • Ensure equal educational opportunity for all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Massachusetts DESE License in Elementary 1-6.
    • SEI Endorsement.
    • BA degree.
    Additional Qualifications
    • Teaching experience in the content area.
    • Experience supporting students with special needs.
    • Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language.
    • Experience teaching English language learners.
    • Experience with second language acquisition.
    Work Year and Compensation

    Work Year: 185 days.

    Salary:
    Appropriate step on Teacher's Salary Schedule.
