Job DescriptionAs a building substitute teacher in the Worcester Public Schools, you will provide rigorous instruction and support across classrooms and grade levels, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, including English language learners and students with disabilities.
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality instructional experience in accordance with district and state curriculum standards.
- Cover any classroom or grade level assigned by the building principal.
- Assume duties such as lunch, recess, hall, dismissal, and coverage of instructional assistants.
- Assess students for learning comprehension and adjust instruction to promote learning.
- Maintain and enforce school rules, safety protocols, and behavioral expectations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, students, and families.
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing curriculum and lesson plans.
- Commit to the position for the complete school year and report to work on time.
- Work successfully in a fast‑paced environment and uphold equal educational opportunity for all.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Ability to meet district attendance requirements.
- Experience working with school‑aged students.
- Ability and willingness to complete a variety of school‑based assignments.
- Willingness to learn and enforce school and district expectations for student and staff behavior.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a work environment that values and supports all students and families.
- Experience supporting students with special needs.
- Language skills in Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African language.
- Experience teaching English language learners.
- School‑year calendar, 180 pupil days.
- Salary: $50.72 per hour (6 hours/day).
