Job Description
SPORT: VARSITY FOOTBALL
POSITION: DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO:
Athletic Director/HS Principal
- Program Leadership:
Design and implement the overall defensive philosophy, playbook, and terminology. - Game Planning:
Lead the scouting process, analyze opponent film (Hudl), and develop weekly game plans and call sheets. - Staff Coordination:
Oversee defensive position coaches (DL, LB, DB) to ensure all drills align with the overarching team strategy. - Training & Mentorship:
Lead practice sessions focused on skill development, stamina, and technique; provide constructive feedback via film review; and foster an environment of academic accountability and sportsmanship. - Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all MIAA regulations, as well as the AKF student, employee, and athletic handbooks. - Operations:
Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, and first‑aid supplies. - Culture:
Model AKF Character virtues at all times and instill a competitive, teamwork‑oriented spirit in all athletes. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the Varsity Head Coach and the Athletic Director regarding all aspects of the program.
- Maintain current certification through the MIAA.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Successful completion of a CORI and SAFIS background check.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Stipend Details: Position/Activity:
Varsity Football Defensive Coordinator;
Stipend Amount: $3,200 (gross, pre‑tax);
Stipend Period:
August 2026 through end of athletic season;
Payment
Schedule:
Paid in one installment on 11/27/2026 ($3,200);
Funding Source:
General Fund.
This stipend is a flat‑rate amount and not based on hourly work unless otherwise required by applicable law or the terms of a specific grant.
In the context of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS), certain stipends may be considered part of your “regular compensation” and therefore may be creditable toward your retirement benefits.
