Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher – Grade 5

Salary: Instructional Salary Scale (approximately $54,183 to $101,523 per year)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering high‑quality, engaging instruction aligned with Massachusetts state standards and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment where all students can succeed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and implement rigorous math lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Curriculum Frameworks.
- Deliver effective, differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, student‑centered classroom environment.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
- Integrate instructional technology to enhance learning and build digital literacy.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and strengthen instructional practices.
- Maintain open, proactive communication with students, families, and colleagues to support student success and a strong school community.
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, or related field required; master’s degree preferred. Must hold or be eligible for DESE licensure in Middle School Mathematics (Grades 5–8) or Mathematics (Grades 8–12).
- SEI Endorsement: Required (or must be obtained within first year).
- Experience: Prior classroom teaching experience required; experience in Grades 5–8 preferred. Demonstrated success teaching mathematics. Familiarity with Massachusetts Math Curriculum Frameworks highly desirable.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong understanding of math instruction practices; proven ability to differentiate instruction for ELs and students with special education plans; excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; commitment to continuous improvement, equity, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
This position operates in a school and office setting. Some travel between schools may be required. Occasional evening and weekend events for Board of Trustees meetings, parent meetings, college nights, academic and athletic events, or professional development may be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive motions.
- Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, and stretching.
- Standing or walking for entire 8‑hour shift.
- Must function in fast‑paced environment requiring multitasking and attention to detail.
