Essential Functions
- Maintain knowledge of and uphold NAEYC and DEEC standards.
- Collaborate with the Wee Wuns Coordinator to design and create curriculum and daily lesson/activity plans that support a developmentally appropriate program.
- Supervise children, the classroom environment, teachers and teacher assistants, and daily activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children while engaging parent volunteers.
- Make systematic observations and conduct evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
- Conduct parent conferences and maintain positive, professional communication with families.
- Keep accurate program records (attendance, medical, food service).
- Attend and participate in family events, staff meetings, professional development trainings, and YMCA community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Swimming once a month.
- Must hold EEC Lead Teacher Preschool certification and meet DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS education/experience requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or evidence of enrollment in a degree program (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Current certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Ability to build strong, authentic relationships with diverse families and community members.
- Physically able to participate in children’s activities, playground supervision, evacuation drills, and lift children when needed.
- Must provide evidence of physical examination and health clearance every two years, proof of negative Mantoux test, and documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Within 30 days of hire: completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Fulfillment of state‑specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program‑specific training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Job Type: Full-Time (Non‑Exempt)
Schedule: Monday‑Friday 7:30am‑3:30pm
Pay: $18.00/hr-$24.00/hr (based on education and experience) with a full benefit package to include generous PTO, access to facilities, medical, dental, disability, life, vision, & pet insurance, and participation in a 403B retirement savings plan.
Bonus: New hires for Full‑Time EEC teaching positions at Greendale Family Branch YMCA will receive a $2,000 bonus: $500 paid immediately upon hire, $500 upon completion of a 90‑day review, and $1,000 at the 180‑day mark.
