Job DescriptionAs a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will provide rigorous instruction to a diverse classroom, aligning teaching to district and state curriculum, regularly assessing student learning, and modifying instruction to meet all students’ needs, especially English learners and students with disabilities.

Accountability ObjectiveThis teaching position provides services to students identified with a disability through a team evaluation. Students receive systematic instruction throughout the day to address curriculum weaknesses, using compensatory strategies and multi‑sensory techniques to build potential and self‑esteem.
Students often have significant social, communication, and behavioral deficits related to autism and/or related disabilities. Applicants must have experience or willingness to learn Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and collaborate with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and other service providers to tailor programming.
Principal Responsibilities- Serve on the Special Education Team to write educational plans and progress reports on SAGE‑IEP and complete assessments within required timelines.
- Follow student IEPs and ensure compliance with state and federal SPED regulations, delivering high‑quality services and providing accommodations/modifications for instruction and assessment.
- Maintain up‑to‑date curriculum content and modify instruction per IEPs across all domains.
- Provide daily multi‑sensory curricula and support academic, social, communication, and behavior development.
- Implement differentiated instructional techniques.
- Collaborate with regular education teachers and other personnel in programming students.
- Understand standardized testing guidelines and provide required accommodations during administrations.
- Assess student knowledge and progress formally and informally to develop measurable IEP goals.
- Create and coordinate a services schedule to meet all IEP requirements.
- Deliver individual, small‑group, and inclusive instruction aligned with the IEP.
- Guide and supervise paraprofessionals supporting instruction.
- Implement assistive technologies to enhance communication and learning.
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to secure equitable learning opportunities in the least restrictive environment.
- Attend monthly department meetings and bi‑monthly building‑based meetings.

- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate Disabilities PreK‑8 and/or Severe Disabilities PreK‑2/All.
- SEI Endorsement.
- BA degree.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in Special Education.
- ABA experience.
- Mastery of a variety of teacher competencies, curricula, and instructional models, including multi‑sensory and structured language techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate Disabilities PreK‑8 and/or Severe Disabilities PreK‑2/All.
- Experience supporting students with severe special needs.
- Proficiency in Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African language.
- Experience teaching English language learners.
- Experience with second language acquisition.
- Valid temporary license from another state if qualifying for DESE temporary license, including proof of working under that license for three complete school years.
