Job DescriptionThe role of an Intermediate teacher at Gates Lane Elementary School involves creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment, fostering curiosity, perseverance, creativity, and academic growth for all students. Teachers are expected to deliver rigorous instruction to a diverse student body, align instruction with district and state curriculum, regularly assess learning, modify instruction, and provide a classroom that supports English language learners and students with disabilities.
Teachers will collaborate with colleagues, mentors, and families and will use innovative instructional approaches and technology to promote high standards, equity, and diverse learning opportunities.
Principal Responsibilities- Remain up-to-date regarding curriculum content.
- Plan and assess curriculum and instruction effectively.
- Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as appropriate.
- Manage classroom environment effectively.
- Teach by making learning goals clear and using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
- Employ innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second-language learners.
- Ensure equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Massachusetts DESE License in Elementary Grades 1-6.
- SEI Endorsement.
- BA degree.
- Teaching experience in the content area.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
- Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African language.
- Experience teaching English-language learners.
- Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition.
- Work year: 185 school days.
- Salary: $61,410 to $91,240 per year (scale based on bachelor’s degree; potential increase with higher degree).
