The teacher will assume responsibility for providing instructional experiences consistent with Worcester Public Schools rules and the Transitional Bilingual Education Act.

• Plan, develop and implement instructional experiences that promote student growth.
• Use effective classroom presentation techniques and review, correct, and reinforce lessons to enhance learning and retention.
• Administer and verify testing to confirm student level accomplishment.
• Apply effective classroom management, discipline and behavior reinforcement techniques.
• Implement strategies that foster cognitive development.
• Identify and refer students requiring Special Education services.
• Ensure equal educational opportunity to all persons regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness.
• Perform other job‐related duties as assigned.
• Stay current with curriculum content and updates.
• Plan and assess curriculum and instruction.
• Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as appropriate.
• Manage the classroom environment effectively.
• Set clear learning goals and employ appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
• Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, and implement strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Massachusetts Licensure as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher PreK-6.
• SEI Endorsement or dual licensure.

• Advanced educational preparation in ESL methodology.
• Experience in bilingual/bicultural education and second language acquisition.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
• Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African language.
• Additional experience with second language acquisition.

Work year: 185 days. Salary range: $61,410 to $91,240 per year, based on educational level.
