The course explores proximate questions, including genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences on the development and expression of behavior, as well as ultimate questions, including how behaviors have been shaped by ecology and evolutionary history.
The course has used a mixed format, with both lectures and discussion of primary literature. The course is currently scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:25-2:40 pm. A Ph.D. in Biology or related fields is preferred, but advanced PhD candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of potential for teaching excellence in biology. Review of applications will begin July 8, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.
