Job DescriptionPosition:
Building Substitute Teacher.
Reports to:
Building Principal.
As a teacher in Worcester Public Schools, you will provide rigorous instruction to a diverse student population, align instruction to district and state curriculum, assess student comprehension, and modify instruction to ensure learning. You will create a classroom conducive to the needs of all students, including English language learners and students with disabilities.

Accountability ObjectiveAssume responsibility for delivering high‑quality instruction through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks and regulations of Worcester Public Schools. Building substitutes support the building and will receive daily assignments from the building principal, including classroom or grade level coverage, lunch, recess, hall, dismissal, and instructional assistant coverage.
Principal Responsibilities- Commit to remaining in the position for the complete school year.
- Report to work on time and for complete work days.
- Learn and enforce district and school rules and procedures.
- Work at the direction of the building principal and accept a variety of assignments.
- Interact with students, colleagues, and families professionally and respectfully.
- Supervise students and enforce school rules, including safety rules.
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing curriculum and lesson plans.
- Communicate with supervisors and colleagues about work‑related issues.
- Work successfully in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ensure equal educational opportunity for all individuals.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Ability to meet district attendance requirements.
- Experience working with school‑aged students.
- Willingness to complete a variety of school‑based assignments.
- Willingness to learn and enforce student and staff behavior expectations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to a work environment that values and supports all students and families.
- Experience supporting students with special needs.
- Fluency in Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African language.
- Experience teaching English language learners.
School‑year calendar, 180 pupil days.
Salary: $50.72 per hour (6 hours/day).
