Job Description

As a teacher in Worcester Public Schools you will provide rigorous instruction to a diverse student population. You will align teaching to district and state curriculum, assess students, modify instruction, and maintain a conducive learning environment for all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.

Accountability Objective

This position is accountable for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with curriculum frameworks, standards, and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
  • Effectively plan and assess curriculum and instruction.
  • Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum, adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments as appropriate.
  • Manage classroom environment effectively.
  • Deliver instruction, making learning goals clear, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
  • Use innovative approaches, instructional strategies, and technology to increase student learning and confidence.
  • Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.
  • Ensure equal educational opportunity for all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Appropriate Massachusetts DESE license in Business Management 5‑12.
  • SEI Endorsement.
  • BA degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in the content area.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
  • Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language.
  • Experience teaching English language learners.
  • Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition.
  • Licensed in another state and eligible for temporary DESE license.
